Questions about Drop

Plain answers about drivers, customers, proof and plans. If yours isn’t here, write tosupport@illuminantinc.com.

Getting started

Do drivers need their own iPhone?

Yes. Each driver uses an iPhone with iOS 17 or later. The office can use an iPad, a Mac or an iPhone. If you’re the owner and the only driver, one iPhone does both.

Is there an Android version?

No. Drop is for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch only.

How do drivers join my business?

The owner or a dispatcher sends each driver an invite link or code from the app. The driver installsIlluminant Drop, signs in, and opens the link or types the code. An invite works once and expires after 7 days.

Do I need to pay for Apple Maps or a mapping service?

No. Drop uses the maps already on your iPhone and iPad. Drivers can open each stop in Apple Maps, Google Maps or Waze, whichever they prefer.

Drivers and the road

What happens when a driver has no signal?

The route is already on the phone, so the driver keeps going. Deliveries, photos and signatures are saved on the iPhone and sent automatically when the signal returns.

Does Drop track my drivers after hours?

No. Drop records location only between Start route and End route. Outside a route there’s nothing to record, and the driver can see what’s collected. Read the driver location notice.

Can I give a temporary driver a route without the app?

Yes. The office can share a read-only link to that day’s route with a temporary driver. The link works through the day after the route, and you can turn it off at any time.

Your customers

What do my customers receive?

Emails in your business’s name, colors and logo: one when the driver is on the way, with an estimated window and a tracking link; an update if the route is running late; and one when it’s delivered, with the photo. If a delivery can’t be made, they get an email saying so. The tracking page shows how many stops away the driver is.

Is the delivery time a promise?

No. Customers see an estimated window, such as “estimated between 11:00 and 12:00.” Traffic and the stops before theirs can move it, so when a route runs late your customers can get an update.

Can customers stop the emails?

Yes. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and Drop stops emailing that address for your business. Customers can read the notice to customers for more.

Does Drop send text messages?

Drop sends email today; it doesn’t send text messages.

Proof and your data

Who owns the data, and can I export it?

Your business owns it. On every plan, including Free, you can export everything: a ZIP with CSV files and every proof photo and signature, with their fingerprints. You can delete your data at any time. Drop has no ads, doesn’t sell data and uses no third-party analytics. See the Privacy Policy.

How long is proof kept?

30 days on Free, 2 years on Drop 3 and Drop 10, and with no time limit on Drop 25.

Can proof be changed after the fact?

No one can edit it. Drop keeps the original photo and signature as captured, with a SHA-256 fingerprint made on the phone. The stamped copy with the time and place is a separate file. The owner can delete proof, but not change it. That makes it documented, time-stamped proof you can share as a PDF.

Can pharmacies use Drop for patient deliveries?

Drop stores no medication, condition or prescription information; there are no fields for it, and order notes are hidden from customer emails and pages. Please don’t put medication names in notes. Drop is not designed to process protected health information and doesn’t offer a business associate agreement (BAA), so confirm with your own compliance advisor first. More on the page for pharmacies.

Plans and billing

What counts as a driver?

A driver counts on a day when they’re sent out on a route. Five drivers on payroll with three driving today fits Drop 3. Owners and dispatchers who stay in the office don’t count.

What happens if I go over my stops for the day?

The day always finishes. Stops per day (25 on Free, 300 on Drop 3) are a soft limit: Drop never stops a route halfway. If busy days become the norm, compare the plans or readwhat the free plan includes.

How do I pay, and how do I cancel?

You buy a plan in the app, through Apple. To cancel, open your iPhone’s Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions. When a paid plan ends, your business is view-only until the owner picks a plan or continues on Free. Drop 10 starts with a 14-day free trial.
